Educational Programs and Resources for Students and Parents
Many youths live in distressed communities with few adequate resources that affect better housing, employment, and education for them. Often, our youths are not afforded opportunities that would expose them to diverse and positive learning experiences that will take them outside their neighborhoods. Further, children may have parents or guardians who are undereducated, young, and inexperienced, and are unemployed or underemployed. If not addressed, these factors can prevent youths from being exposed to the reality needed to make good choices that can lead to a wealth of opportunities. Regardless of their individual circumstances, students who are under-performing in distressed communities need our support if they are going to have a fighting chance at achieving post-secondary success. According to a study by the Center for Health and Research, youths who are disadvantaged experience social exclusion and inequality in many areas. |
