About Us
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) was founded to provide enhanced afterschool and summer programs for underperforming and disadvantaged K-12 students. Many youth live in distressed communities with few adequate resources that affect better housing, employment, and education. Often, these youth are not afforded opportunities that expose them to diverse, positive learning experiences that take them outside their own neighborhoods. Further, disadvantaged children may have parents or guardians who are undereducated, young and inexperienced, and unemployed or underemployed. If unaddressed, these factors can prevent youth from being exposed to the reality that making good choices can lead to a wealth of opportunity.
Regardless of their individual circumstances, underperforming students in distressed communities need our support now if they are going to have a fighting chance at achieving post-secondary success. According to a study by the Center for Health and Research, disadvantaged children and youth experience social exclusion and inequality in a number of ways. With your help, the larger community, CAE will work with you to put our youth into a position to learn, retain, grow, and succeed.
Please consider a donation of your time and/or money toward our goal.
